Hossein Rahnama
Non-Executive Director
Hossein Rahnama is the Professor Head of the sAIpien program at MIT Media Lab and a Full Professor and Edward S. Rogers Research Chair in Artificial Intelligence and Human Creativity at Toronto Metropolitan University. He is recognized for his influential work at the intersection of human-AI interaction and data science and is also the Founder and CEO of Flybits, a company specializing in AI and Data Science solutions. Dr. Rahnama's research explores the design of Human-AI Systems, data governance, human-computer interaction, and the development of mission-critical AI systems. His scholarly contributions include over 50 published papers and 16 patents in computer and data science. He is also the faculty lead at the MIT Connection Science Group and serves as one of the Global Directors of the MIT Media Lab’s City Science Group. Demonstrating his commitment to advancing research and education, he currently holds positions on the board of directors for Canadian Science Publishing and Havergal College. He previously served on the Board of Home Capital Group and as a council member at the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC). Dr. Rahnama's innovative work has garnered significant international recognition. He was named to the MIT Technology Review Global TR35 list in 2012, received the Isadore Sharp Outstanding Graduate Award in 2013, was recognized as a Smithsonian Innovator to Watch in 2013, and was honored as one of Canada's Top 40 under 40 in 2017.
